How to play Riftspinner your way, and where the limits are.
PLAY FREE IN YOUR BROWSERRiftspinner is a fast action game, so it has a lot of options to let more people play it their way. This page lists what is available, how to turn it on, and where the limits are. Last updated 7 October 2026.
Where to find the options
Open Accessibility from the main menu or the pause screen. Everything is saved on your device. Two presets get you started quickly: Keyboard only and Mouse only. Reset all puts everything back to the defaults.
Controls
- Keyboard: WASD, the arrow keys and the numpad (with Num Lock on: 8 4 5 6 or 8 4 2 6, and 7 9 1 3 for diagonals) all move the spider at the same time. Dash is Space, Shift or Numpad 0.
- Remappable keys: every action has up to three key slots you can change, clear or reset. A key can only belong to one action, and the game tells you if a key is reserved.
- Mouse only: hold the right button to move toward the cursor, or let the spider follow the cursor. The left button fires, the middle button dashes and the wheel swaps guns. On-screen buttons are available for status and pause, and the pickup prompt can be clicked.
- Keyboard only: with auto-aim and automatic fire you only need the movement keys and dash.
- Firing: hold, click to toggle on and off, or fully automatic whenever an enemy is on the map.
- Gamepad: standard controllers work. Left stick or d-pad moves (the stick is analogue), the right stick aims, triggers or the bumper fire, A or the left trigger dashes, X inspects, Y salvages, Start pauses and Back opens the status screen. In menus the d-pad moves focus, A selects and B goes back.
- Menus: every screen can be used with the keyboard alone: Tab and Shift+Tab move focus, Enter and Space press, Esc goes back. Level-up choices can be picked with the number keys 1 to 4, and the loot card has Enter, S, X and Esc shortcuts.
Vision
- High contrast: pure black panels, white borders and brighter text, plus bright outlines around the spider, enemies, hostile shots and loot. It switches on automatically if your system asks for more contrast.
- Colour-blind safe: red and green comparisons become blue and orange with up and down arrows, so the meaning never depends on hue alone.
- Interface size: 100%, 125% or 150% for menus, the HUD and text.
- Crosshair: a large pointer, or a large high-contrast pointer.
- Reduce motion and flashes: turns off screen shake and animations, cuts particles and softens the damage flash. It switches on automatically if your system asks for reduced motion.
Pace
Game speed can be set to 100%, 85%, 70% or 50%. It slows everything, enemies included, so it is not an advantage in a fight. Run times on the leaderboard are longer at lower speeds.
Screen readers
Menus and dialogs use proper roles and labels, focus moves into each dialog when it opens and returns when it closes, and the guide pages have a skip link and landmarks. During play, key events are announced through a live region: wave starts and clears, monarch waves, level-up options, nearby loot and how to inspect it, weapon swaps, low health, shrines, and game over. You can turn announcements off.
Cookies and privacy
The cookie popup can be used with the keyboard, offers Accept all and Reject all with equal prominence, and can be reopened at any time from Cookie settings in the footer or the menu.
Known limits
- Riftspinner is a real-time game played on a canvas. Announcements describe key events, but the moment-to-moment action is visual, so it cannot be played with a screen reader alone.
- Touch screens are not supported.
- Gamepad buttons cannot be remapped, and gamepad menu navigation is basic.
- The tutorial and in-game text are in English only.
